Smile lift is a surgical correction of the "gummy smile" - condition associated with exposure of more than 2-3 mm gum tissue on top of the teeth while smiling. This procedure involves removing the excess gum and sculpting the soft tissue around the newly exposed tooth structure. Key of success is repositioning the bone level at a certain distance away from the new margin. Often the surgery can be followed by placing porcelain veneers for complete aesthetic improvement.
